@A11Eur0: quote from WiK: "Everywhere in Lion’s Arch, commoners rejoiced at Princess Salma’s arrival. White Mantle symbols and flags were torn from the city’s walls, and a sense of hope shone upon the capital like warm sunshine bursting through storm clouds." I see what you are saying about all that stuff, but then shouldn't my character who is following all this stuff NOT see the WM banners still up if they are in fact torn down? All I am saying is that it ruins the immersion. The website is saying that they are, in fact, torn down! All I am saying is that, for my character that has followed all of this stuff; They are NOT torn down. I see a problem with that. It ruins immersion in my opinion.

Yes, but because Anet can't make two seperate copies of LA without dividing the entire playerbase, tearing down all WM banners for everyone would kill immersion for everyone that hasn't yet progressed in the WiK.

On my characters that haven't finished Prophecies I understand why they see White Mantle banners as it only makes sense. But what I'm confused about is my characters that have finished Prophecises still see White Mantle Banners. On my ranger I've run into the Peace keepers outside Bettletun and Bergen Hot Springs. I've take her to the camp in the Talmark Wilderness but still I only see White Mantle Banners. I'm not sure where or how the Gwen/Thackery altercation is.
Other then that well I know someday I'll see the right banners lol

It's because the game provides you with your own instance when in an explorable. That's why you can see Peacekeepers and fight them. But you are sharing LA and any other town with more people, and thus the town needs to stay at a state prior to anyone completing Proph or EotN.

I completely agree. Before this debacle, Lion's Arch was the pinnacle of immersion. I mean, what's not immersive about a large city that consists of about twelve buildings, none of which I can enter? Or a city full of 119 other adventurers, all of whom happen to be "chosen", just like me!? Or a city that magically makes monsters resurrect outside the gates, even though I've just spent the past hour making sure that the region outside was completely devoid of life? Or a city that is half full of giant yetis and phantoms, as well as tiny liches, dragons, and elves?
But then all of that immersion was completely ruined when some flags showed the wrong logo! Way to go Anet!

Dense? No. Serious? Yes. I have a compromise for you dude, since you are all fired up about this. Take it off the WiK page that all the banners got torn down. Problem solved and you can keep your forumz rage down to a minimum. It was an opinion I had man. Just saying they should fix what they posted. Some of us like our lore. You can think what you like, but not at the cost of being rude.

I'm not the one fired up about it...you're the one who thinks you need everything to be "kosher" for your "gaming experience", regardless of how the rest of the entire gaming community feels about it. The banners were torn down FOR THOSE FOLLOWING WIK, IN THE RELATED INSTANCES. Your "lore" does not fit with the "lore" for 95% of the characters passing through LA. Rude...well maybe if you were to think about others for a change, you'd understand that they can't change the flags in LA, it won't make sense to the majority of players and THEIR "lore". Capiche?

Call my crazy but wouldn't it be rather simple for the client to check how far your character is and depending on quest completion load one texture or the other? Unless the basics of if/then statements elude Anet programmers. Honestly though, attention to details like this are easy to overlook and if they started swapping textures now then players might expect it for other parts of the game. imo slippery slope, lore inaccuracies, zz, no care.

name me one town/city/outpost that shows different textures for different people who have done different things. Just one. I'll wait.

With all the people running different versions of the outpost still being able to see each other in that outpost, I might add.

All of them, actually. Suppose you and I both go into LA. It's the first time for me, but you have been there many times. Will we both see bangs over the heads of all the quest givers? Or will I see bangs that you do not?
Note: I am NOT supporting the idea that the banners need to be changed in the outpost version of LA. I'm fond of lore myself, but I have no problem dealing with the setup as it is currently, where WiK stuff takes place in explorable instances only. I recognize the situation as being a necessary compromise. Obviously the Mantle banners ARE down while a character is actually participating in WiK material, so it makes no sense at all to suggest that references to WiK content be removed from the WiK web page.

Texmod shows this can be down flawlessly, and green quest markers over NPC heads are a good example of things that show up client side that don't show up for everyone in the same district/server/whatever. I'm not saying the textures should be changed for people who have completed the quests clientside, because as I mentioned before, it's a slippery slope and players would start wanting more of this to be done for other parts of the story, but that doesn't mean it can't be done.

This is exactly my point. There isn't one. As soon as Anet did this one small thing for the sake of lore accuracy, the community would probably ask for more of this to fix other inaccuracies, and get angry when it's ignored. It's really not worth it to implement these switching textures.
